Pam Wakefield grew up in Bloomfield, NJ. She and her spouse Bill raised their children in Montclair before relocating the family to Princeton in the early 1980s to be closer to Bill’s workplace. She worked for years in the Princeton University Department of Psychology as a research assistant for Professor George Miller. She became active in Nassau Presbyterian Church. In the interview, Pam discusses how her family navigated the transition to Princeton and shares memories of moving into a home on Lake Carnegie. She also recalls how her family experienced the events of September 11, 2001 and describes how the Princeton community responded to the terrorist attacks with tolerance. Finally, Pam discusses the increasing demographic diversity of Princeton’s population and Nassau Presbyterian’s advocacy on behalf of immigrants and refugees.
