Oral History with Barbara Suomi

Barbara Suomi moved to Princeton in 1973, the year her oldest child was born. All three of her children attended University NOW Day Nursery (UNOW) throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Barbara remembers UNOW fondly and was impressed by their philosophy, quality of teachers, and compassionate environment. She especially appreciated that they provided childcare until 6:00 p.m. and remembers it being one of the only places that did so. Barbara also recalls that many people were critical and disapproving of children being in childcare all day, but that her children loved UNOW so much that they did not want to leave at the end of the day.
