Oral History with Betty Harris

Betty Harris was a teacher at University NOW Day Nursery (UNOW) from 1972–2016. In this conversation with Erika Gilfether, Betty talks about the deep respect she has always felt for the ideas of young children, how vital she found the freedom and independence teachers were given, and how much she valued “helping children figure out how to figure something out.” Reflecting on her 43-year career, Betty offers thoughts on why UNOW was a place where all of that could happen.
